I’ve been to the wood shows, checked the phone books, internet etc. and have found it painfully difficult to find various items listed in magazines or on this forum.
Although virtually everything is available through mail order, the exchange, shipping and customs clearance, not to mention timing make it prohibitive. I once ordered a saw from Garrett Wade that went from $ 20 to over $ 100 once the above was added in.
Lately, I’ve been looking for Trans Tint dyes, and quality spraying equipment (guns fans etc).
This has led me to asking the question, who / where are your favorite suppliers for your woodworking needs in Ontario, be it machinery, finishing products etc.
I’ve gotten along pretty well with Lee Valley, and a few machine suppliers, but can’t help but think there are many outlets that are not well known unless you live in the immediate vicinity.
I’ll start the list with the ones that I’ve frequented
Lee Valley tools http://www.leevalley.com/home/main.asp
Tegs Tools Hamilton – Delta, Jet etc machinery www.tegstools.com
Atlas Tools – Queen St. Toronto Makita, Delta, Metal working
Tool Junkie – Stouffville General / General Int’l, King etc. www.tooljunkie.com
Ford Machinery – Hwy 404 and Hwy 7 area Delta new and used machines
Peacock Lumber – Oshawa good selection rough domestic lumber http://peacocklumber.ca
A & M Cambridge, amazing selection of domestic and exotic lumber www.amwoodinc.com
Rob Cosman – Lie Nielsen distributor for Canada www.robcosman.com

Transtint dyes are a product of Jeff Jewitt, at homesteadfinishing.com. He is a pleasure to deal with. Also, he carries good quality spray equip, which comes with a bit of advice. His book is excellent.
Jeff will not ship his products to Canada, you can try Woodessence in Saskatoon, This is another Jeff who gives good service - http://www.woodessence.com he carries the same stuff.
Thanks for the link, this looks interesting.

let's see... advanced spray on eglinton ave in mississauga carries good spray equipment, including fuji spray[canadian made]. robert bury in brampton is an excellent source for all forms of sheet goods. rough lumber...i deal with knight lumber in guelph, i've heard oliver lumber is good but if you don't have an account they have a minimum purchase of [i think] 400$. and i agree, atlas rules.
I've had no probelms buying small quantities of lumber from Oliver, as long as you go and pick it up. TJV is a good place for powertools and machines, they have great service.
Thanks for the info, I haven't used Rober Bury but recall the name, now that you mention it. I'll take a look at the spray supplier as well.
Thanks again.

Greg:
If you want to venture a lttle further afield, there is a fabulous store just outside of Durham Ontario called Welbeck Sawmill. They carry a lot of General and Delta machinery, but also carry Taiwanese. They have quite a selection of power tools, good hand tools, and great conversation! This place is out in the backwoods, but it is just amazing!
I buy a lot of hardwood and good quality plywoods from Commonwealth Plywood in St. Jacobs. They deliver right to my place about 200km away.
For excellent qulity hardware, drawer slides, hinges, and so on, I deal with Kipco in Kitchener. Can't beat the prices, and excellent service.
Greg,
You can try these too:

I'm not sure which ones will suit your needs, but they're worth a look.

Thanks everyone. I've booked marked many of the sites and will likely look them up when the need arises.
Seems like South West Ontario is the major market for woodworking. I understand the Durham wood show is quite good, but have not made it there yet.
Thanks again.
