Does anyone know where to find parts and “special tools” (as referred to in the owner’s manual) for a 1980s Rockwell 13X6 planer?

Call Delta. They made the planer and still have many old parts.
tm,
Good luck. I contacted Delta for parts for a barely 10 year old used machine I recently bought (line boring machine) and was told that it was obsolete and that Delta only carries parts for machines for 7-10 years. I was always under the assumption you could get delta parts for years after the purchase.

I bought some parts from Delta for my 1949 20" band saw, so it's not out of the question that they'll have parts for your machine. If this is one of the imported planers with the 4 pillars, you may find that Grizzly or other offshore suppliers have parts. You might also check for used parts with Plaza Machinery: http://www.plazamachinery.com.Pete

What's the model number? 22-401?
You could also try http://www.acetoolrepair.com
Not sure what "special tools" your machine wants, but there may be an alternative available at your local Sears.

You may want to post your question at the Old Woodworking Machines web site. Your machine from the 1980s may not be "vintage enough" for these folks but it's worth a try. Also, you could post something on Woodweb. It they don't have a section on machine parts you could post in the machinery for sale/wanted section. Admitedly, these are long shots but they may be worth a few minutes of your time.
