I may have screwed up. I finished a cabinet with tung oil, inside and out. I hung the doors yesterday and today a bad smell greeted me upon opening it. I just watched the video by Andy Rae. He said twenty years of bad smell. I can’t subject my client to that. Will shellac seal in that smell? Or what? Thanks, Michael

You're in a tough spot. If you can, let the cabinet sit open for a few days to a few weeks to get the oil to dry as much as possible, and then hit it with a few coats of shellac. This will certainly reduce the smell considerably and, with luck it, will completely seal it. I believe that the dewaxed shellacs, such as Zinnser's Sealcoat are the most effective.
