This message board lacks a few things; like being able to change the subject line in a reply – thought I better start a new thread since this is not to terribly related to sheet good storage.
Many moons ago I used to play in a small jazz combo and we played a few gigs at the officer’s club in Sand Point. The last time I was there was when my wife was teaching and the faculty had an end of the year party at the same place. I haven’t been there since it was turned over as a park (King Co. or Seattle??) The grounds used to be beautiful – it’s right on Lake WA. There’s an air strip there, too, and I think it’s been converted to civilian light plane use.

Hi Dennis, you mean you didn't want to hijack a thread?? LOL! Maybe we can use this one to find out who-all's in the area and might want to go. We could raise some serious heck at a local pub with about 10 Knotters after the show! (assuming any of us had any money left, now there's a thought :-)

I must have some money left somewhere - they don't turn my credit card down.
Neat idea about hooking up with brother/sister knotheads. I've meet people from all over the world who I had "known" on line for years and it always turned out to be a positive experience.
I'm in the market for a good sanding system (belt + disk kinda thing) so if there are any at this show that's where I'll be at one point or the other.

"Knotheads" -- I like it! I'll paste you into my address book and be in touch! Have a sawdusty kinda weekend :-)forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I am interested. As far as pubs go, is Cooper's still there at the south end of Lake City Way? I used to live near by but now I live up in Snohomish. It was a good place to go and it is pretty close to the site of the show.
I love to meet others with an interest in WW. Working for myself, by myself, leaves me talking to the dogs far too often.
Stay in touch as October nears.

Apparently so. It's listed in the Seattle Resturant Guide at any rate:

Interesting how many brewpubs are listed on a site with a .edu hierarchy designation (hehehe)

Nice research Dennis :)
I'm all the way out in RI, a long commute from my old home in Tacoma, WA. I actually just schedualed a trip to the Great Northwest for late Sept. to visit family. After hearing about the show I'm thinking of sliding the trip into the begining of October.
I'll kep an eye out for the "knotheads" lol.
I think the term is here to stay!
-Majorelle
Majorelle, that's be pretty cool to hobknob with a Knothead all the way from RI! You must know, though, since you're a native -- you'd be trading in your last chance at decent weather if you come in late Oct. rather than September. Being a definite non-native, I shudder at the thought, but you're probably way tougher and more waterproof than I am :-)
Tacoma's builiding up an impressive array of museums these days -- just read that they're going to be the home of that 3000-car collection, coming in 2005 I believe. Cool.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)

OK, as far as I'm concerned, I'll be at Cooper's at noon for lunch the Sat. of the show. Any other knotheads that care to make a gathering of it, it'd be a pleasure to make eye contact. (*Any* other knotheads, Sarge <grin>).
I haven't physically checked out that Cooper's is actually there - just going on the rest. guide that it is.
We'll just tell the M'aiter De that we're looking for knotheads. That should get their attention.

LERT:
" Maybe we can use this one to find out who's in the AREA and might want to go."
Just thought I'd drop in a note to let you know that there are some of us serious people out here reading these threads. I can't possibly imagine how you deem laughter, camaraderie and promotion of "good will" amongst woodworkers a benefit to the advancement of such.
I hope you don't think for one minute that I would jump on a Delta jet (they're ready when you are) an show up for such a silly purpose as you've proposed. I realize that I personally would probaly be a wall-flower at such an event. Yes, I admit I am a little slow and don't have much of a sense of humor. My command of English is lacking and yes, I always put my opinions and feelings ahead of others. So, with all that said; Thank You Very Much for keeping all this silliness on a local scale! I am in no way upset that I have been excluded by your use of the word Area. I got better things to do anyway!
Someone that I consider one of the most helpful, diplomatic and courteous posters ( throw in humourous and commands the use of ... !!! LOL to express tone) took a little (in my view of things) beating the other day. That person handled themselves with a skilled degree of integrity and intelligence. Mr. John O'Connell posted in a well thought out post and said what needed to be said. (I posted my cudos to him elsewhere).
As you can see I have much more important things to worry about as I have not recieved a post in several days from that person correcting all my little mistakes with a spot of humor and asking verification of what I meant instead of jumping to conclusions and raking me over the coals. I sorely miss that. I will assume that PERSON is just to busy in their AREA making preparations for some upcoming events or somthing.
Even though I consider this rendezvous a personal waste of time, I will reach deep inside my obvious male ego and wish all of you who did recieve an invitation a GOOD TIME TO BE HAD BY ALL !!!
Meanwhile, I have to repair the hole in my sheet-rock and exterior siding where I threw the grinder through the wall of the shop. I guess it most be my male ego again but on some occasions I get up-set at things that my common sense sees as un-fair and not good manners.
So, take that Forest Girl! You deserved everything you just got!
Sarge..
Hiiiyyya Sarge, I think I followed all of that, whew! Maybe you can hitch a ride with Majorelle if you change your mind. Oh, that's right, men don't change their minds, ROFL! You are too funny. Somehow I seriously doubt you'd be a wallflower. So, if you somehow manage to be in the AREA we'll be glad to bend an elbow with ya! Have a good weekend and be nice to those grinders, puhleeeze.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Lert:
I have no doubt you followed every word to the letter. (ALERT).. Don't worry about the grinder. They can be repaired easily enough. Damaged respect requires a lot more work.
I'm not to smart but I think you've implied that it would be OK if I did show up? You know, maybe it wasn't a bad idea after all! From what I read that camarederie " thang" works pretty well sometimes. Hey, don't get me wrong; I'm not changing my mind though. I was just pointing out something I read. A real man doesn't change his mind! We're just a little to smart to let anything do that! Yep, got to get up pretty early to fool us.
PARR---TEEEEE __Why just 10 Knotheads ???? WHY NOT 100 !!! Real men think HEAVY DUTY...
Got to go finish that mortiser cabinet. Good to see a smile out your way. Can't see it, but I know it's there.. I think they call it Men's Intuition. Now, if I could just figure out how you read this d - - n road map. Sometimes I have a little trouble figuring things out!
Be cruising latter this evening.. Regards
Sarge..
Dennis, I know you're probably on your trip right now, but wanted to alert NW Knotheads -- the show in October isn't at Sand Point as we had thought, it's at the Seahawks Stadium Exhibition Center downtown. Have to find another pub, I guess!
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Dennis, I know you're probably on your trip right now, but
Right, but that doesn't mean I'm all that far from a phone plug! (g)
the show in October isn't at Sand Point as we had thought, ...
Are you sure?! The show last spring was at the Exhibition Hall, there isn't some confusion with that one, is there?
I don't doubt your info, just want to make sure we're talking about the same show (in Oct.). That being the case, we better meet at the Hale's brew pup just west of the stadium area. It's across the street, west of Safeco Stadium.

Hi Dennis, glad you're keeping touch with cyberworld! The big "flyer" The WoodWorking Shows has out, which I picked up at Rockler and then got 2 copies in the mail, say exhib center downtown. I re-checked the web info and found that it was located on a vendor's web site (TWC maybe? can't remember).
Anyway, I sent them an email, and they wrote back thanking me for alerting them to the mistake. They said the show is, indeed, downtown.
Much better for moi, since now I don't have to take a car over unless I think I'm actually going to buy a big tool of some sort. Can you spell h-a-n-d-t-r-u-c-k?!

Yea, FG is right. The show is at the Stadium Exhibition Center. A local vendor (that wants me to work the show for him) said that the local vendors complained about the Sandpoint sight. Never been to a show there so I do know how bad it might be.
Regarding another pub, Pyramid is right across the street.
Anyone interested in going Friday? The crowds are significantly smaller.
Just a thought.

I thinK Friday would be great.... like you say, smaller crowd and all. But can the majority of the local (or out of town for that matter) knotheads make it on Friday?

Does Rockler or Woodcraft have any discount coupons available for their party faithful?

I haven't seen any Rockler coupons yet. They are having a sale though, right now, that runs through Oct. 6th (that's what spurred me to get my lovely link-belt -- hmmmmm, wonder if I can find an outfit to go with it?).
I can go over on Friday -- was wondering if that might be a less-crowded day! the huge crowds can be frustrating. I know two or three others who "lurk" here, or are just plain good-guy WWers who could probably come too. I haven't looked at the demo/seminar schedule yet, but there's a possibility I might go 2 days. It'll probably be my last fun-time weekend prior to the big Holiday retail push that goes on at my store -- I'm trapped from late October through the beginning of January.
Speaking of lurkers, where's Splintie?? Helllllooooo?forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
