I’ve been reading this forum for quite some time now, but this is my first try at posting. . . so bear with me if I’m asking a question that has been asked many times before.
I’ve been experimenting with various dyes and stains, trying to duplicate a particular finish. I’m working in poplar, and the closest I’ve come so far is with a first coat of Behlen’s SolarLux medium red mahogany dye, overcoated with Watco dark walnut. Looks nice on a small sample block, but is this a feasible combination for a medium sized cabinet? Can you overcoat an NGR dye like Behlen’s, with a danish oil, successfully?
Thanks in advance for any comments.

There should not be any problem with the Watco over this dye. If the sample looks good, go ahead.
