Greetings,
I recently learned that Ridgid is about to release their version of a hybrid table saw. What I found really interesting was that they have worked with Steel City to incorporate a granite top for the machine.
Can anyone shed any more light on the features, expected release date, or projected cost?
Looking forward to hearing more on this.
Dave

From what I've seen - lookslike the following:
1/34 inch granite
herculift mobile base (similar to the one on their current contractors saw)
30 inch rip to the right, 20 inch to the left
Looks like the mid level craftsman zip code saw - with granite.
not sure if table or cabinet mounted trunnions.
Buyer.
i think it's a little more metal and granite than their contractor saw, and mabey 1.5 more HP

Granite top, enclosed base, large handwheels, steel t-square fence, and the Herculift. Rumor has it that it will retail at $600, making it an outstanding price if it turns out to be a solid design.

Thanks very much for the info and the picture! You certainly are correct about the price...that should make it attractive to a lot of folks. I'm a little surprised that it isn't available for this shopping season, especially at that estimated price..any ideas on a release date?
Looking at the picture, I didn't notice a riving knife, or recognize the fence...any ideas? Because of the granite top, I would assume the trunnions are cabinet mounted. The Herculift is a great feature...more manufacturers need to consider such a feature.
Thanks again for the information. Hope you enjoy the weekend.
The saw is being made over there by TTI which is the parent group of Home Depot. TTI signed a licensing agreement with Steel City for the technology behind the top and components necessary to make a granite top work on a TS as Steel City has rights to that and has doe all the development in that area.
It is not a Steel City Industrial fence which is probably the best on the market.. the trunnions are cabinet mounted. At that price even without the excellent SC fence.. an excellent price point for those not interested in coughing up $1 K + in a not so good economy.
Regards...
Sarge..
Hybrid format, cabinet mounted trunnions, steel fence, riving knife, granite top, Herculift, and 4" dust port is a definite buy at $600 if it doesn't have any glaring problems. That's really an amazing number of features at the price point. What else could you ask for?

"What else could you ask for"?... Knotscott
A 10% Home Depot coupon... a double rebate and a tax free day from the state you are purchasing it from to promote the economy. And if my coffee break weren't concluded... I could probably fantasize on and on and on.... ha.. ha...
Sarge..
looks good, but i love my 3650, somedays it just runs all day
the fence on the 3650 is great as is the trunnion adjustments, plenty of power, flat belt drive etc etc
looks like they really cheapened the fence system, mine is all aluminum with t slots everywhere
granite top with a cheapy fence? makes no sense to me
Is it a cheapy fence? It looks like much like a Delta T2 or Jet Proshop fence minus the faces...those are both very well respected fences for this price point.

I agree with you. I have a 3650 that is about 3 years old now and I have had absolutly no problems with it. (I don't like the dust collection but hey)I got one of the ones they had a problem with the"lost thread" on the shaft. I never use that anyway so who cares. I use several different blades and have never had a power problem Have never changed it to 220 either. The new saw looks good (except for the fence) but I don't think I'll run out and buy one.
"What else could you ask for?" Someone else to beta test??? ROFL!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I have no idea!
However, I LOVE my old Ridgid saw.. Works and then some!
Forget the granet top!
I for one could use better dust collection AND a Riving Knifer that works and esay to remove!
Forget all the other BS..
My old saw works great! I just want something usefull for me!
EDIT: I HATE that the motor is hanging off the back in my small shop!

"Forget all the other BS.."
I think that it is great to get many different points of view. What things on tablesaws do you consider "BS"?

....He must have meant all the other "Band Saws"! ;)

And here I thought that "BS" was the one topic we all thrived on . . .
What things on tablesaws do you consider "BS"?
I am just ME and My BRAIN thinks what I have experienced in life. Period.. No hate here to anybody.
I now have a/an? original RIDGID table saw. It does everything I ask it to do and then some..
I can adjust my blade AS IS..
I can get a straight cut AS Is..
The fence needs slots that can take common "T" bolts. My fence as is.. WORKS except it will not take common T bolts.
The new table tops do NOT make it a more useful saw in my HUMBLE opinion... Maybe better? I have no idea.. I do not have the new ones.. Mine work fine! If I keep them waxed..
If the motor was inside the cabinet.. Now my saw would be almost perfect if the dust collection was a 'bit' better..For what I do.. Not commercial work here.. I need EVERY extra few inches in my tiny garage shop!
And to keep things in prospective.. I built remade my house using a Ryobi 3000 slider that was a GREAT saw. It fitted what I could afford at the time.. And never failed me.. My RIdgid has never failed me either.. Only failures I have these days is I!
Any source for more info? The Ridgid website doesn't mention a new TS.
It is on the Home Depot web site. Do a search for part number R4511, and it will come up. It costs $599.00 and is available online only and does not qualify for free shipping. It looks like a good saw for the money.
After reading about it online, I still had a few questions, so I called Ridgid technical service and asked them a few questions about the saw.
1.) The splitter/riving knife does move up and down with the blade.
2.) The motor is located inside the cabinet inside of a dust-proof enclosure, not hanging off the back like a contractor saw.
3.) It has a built-in 4" dust collection port.
4.) The blade is supposed to be calibrated to be parallel to the miter slots from the factory.
5.) The arbor is not stepped down like on some contractor saws.

Dave I love my old Big box saw..
Forest said something like we are fools for Beta Testing..
I got the very early.. So called Big Box Ridgid saw.. BETA? IT works for me!
Forest is more than a very nice woman and I am sure she very smart.. BUT never owned my so called junk Big Box table saw that worked.. For what I do..
So there Forest! Big huggs from a old man!
Looking over the specs, one glaring spec makes me reluctant to upgrade my TS3650 to their new hybrid; IT ONLY HAS A 1 1/2 HP motor!
When I upgrade, in addition to the other features, one thing I definitely want is a more powerful motor than the contractors saw (Which has the same 1-1/2hp motor).
I would think that a hybrid should come with at least a 2 hp motor, otherwise, I would go with a grizzly or something similar, where you can get a 3hp for not that much more.
