I have a crafstman hand plane that is a copy of a bailey No. 4 smoothing plane. After cleaning it up I decided to upgrade to a new lie-neilsen plane iron. The problem is the new plane iron is so thick that the depth adjusting yolk won’t reach into the little slot in the chip breaker that the yolk pushes an pulls to regulate the depth of cut. What should I do? Thanks in advance for any suggestions, Matt.

Contact LN. You should have specified the "Stanley Replacement" #4 blade. That one is thinner than the standard LN blade but about 50% thicker than the standard Stanley blade. LN will likely swap them over for you.
