Has anyone tried the new Mirka Abranet mesh sanding discs? I recently bought some and I really like them. Although marketed to the automotive refinish market rather than the wood market… I only use them on wood. I find that there are two primary advantages to using these mesh discs over the traditional adhesive-backed paper sanding discs. 1. The sanding dust doesn’t load up at all with these. 2. They don’t wear out nearly as quickly. I’ve found that I can sand roughly 2 to 3 times more material before having to replace the sanding disc as compared to paper-backed sanding discs.

Shel, Mike:
I'm buying them thru http://www.industrialfinishes.com/index.html All I know is that one day my salesman buddy with Industrial Finishes brings this Mirka salesman around to show me this new sanding product. I called my boss down and in half an hour we agreed to place an order that came with two complimentary Mirka pads. This was... oh... about 6-9 months ago. I'm quite happy with them. I stock two grits 240 and 320 (for sanding sealer and lacquer).
Apparently this new abrasive is VERY popular with the body shops locally... according to my friend. It doesn't work well on metal. But, on primer it's awesome.
