Well, I just registered and then read a few of the discussions going on and I think I need to change my status from intermediate to beginner woodworker. There are some knowledgable people out there.
I am in the process of building my dream shop (so far an 8 year project). It is a 1600 sqft. 3 story building. Shop on the first floor, storage on the second and my living quarters on the third. The shop consists of 6 windows, an entrance, and two garage door size openings at each end. There is a clear story in half of the shop which allows me to lift items to the second floor with a chain hoist that runs on an i-beam that is cantilevered to support my balcony on the third floor. Here is my problem. How do I keep the first floor from sweating so much? I have not installed any of the doors on the first floor so maybe that has something to do with all the moisture. However, I do intend to leave the doors open most of the time anyway since the climate in this part of the country is so mild. Anyone have any ideas?

Take this kind of question over in BT. Those are the structure people. More information is needed.
Where are you? Geographicly..
What materials is this building built out of?
What's the status of insulation? Vapor Barrier? solar exposeure.
Are the walls rocked?
Stop and think of what you have and describe it to the others.
BTW... Welcome...

I don't know enough about the problem to even offer all the information I should.
The first floor is split-faced concrete block with concrete poured down the cell of the block every four feet. The blocks set on a 6" slab that was poured over a vapor barrier that covers the sand base. I am located in southeast Texas where the climate is pretty humid. Heat will be provided for using a cast iron wood burning stove and fans will be used throughout. My property is heavily wooded but I do recieve a good amount sun on a metal roof half of the day. I hope that gives you enough information to help.

Spefically what is sweating? Is the "sweat" at dew point? All the time?
Is the sweat really condensation or water seepage?
Is the 1st floor a walk in basement wth one or more walls backed filled? If you have backfill what was done for drainage and water proofing? Any insulation on the block walls.
Got a picture to post?
Just haven't enough informatin to go on.

What is heated and cooled. What isn't.

Sweating? on what, floors, doors, windows and under what conditions? as things cool off in the evening / during damp weather?
It would help to know the general climate and how long has it been since the concrete was poured.

Welcome, Mickey! Sounds like you've got quite a project going there (there's a similar shop across the street from me, with a For Sale sign on it, strangely enough).
Imerc's recommendation to post at BT -- BT=Breaktime (Fine Homebuilding Forum) up above in the Taunton Header. If you're building, I'd bet you'll spend some time over there too!
Have fun!
