New Grizzly Tablesas – Hybrid?
I was just rolling over the Grizzly website and noticed they are showing a new hybrid saw – G0478. Anyone hear anything about this saw?

I haven't heard of anyone owning one yet...not even sure if they're shipping them, but there's been some discussion on Woodnet about the features, price, and it's proposed advantages/disadvantages to other hybrids.
Here are my observations and thoughts:
The new Griz G0478 offers the DC and space savings advantages of other new generation hybrids and cabinet saws. It has a similar cast blade shroud as the GI 50-220 hybrid which dumps to a 4" port, and has a good looking Biese clone fence. The trunnions hang from the table top like a contractor saw's and all other hybrids except the Sears models. It also has an advanced looking ribbed drive belt more similar to the serpentne belts on the Sears models. The amp draw of the motor is still an unknown...if it's similar to other Griz 2hp motors, it will be strong but will draw 24 amps @ 110v requiring either a 30 amp circuit or 220v. Most other hybrids will run on standard 110v circuit or convert to 220v.
At $695 before s/h, it's $80 more than their G0576 left tilt contractor saw and looks like a no brainer to me... a good deal with easily $80 worth of advantages over it IMO. After shipping and equipping it with a comparable blade, it's closer to the $800 mark which brings it within sales prices of the 22124...with the cabinet mounted trunnions, Leitz blade, wider table, commercial Biese fence, 100# more mass and many extras, I think the 22124 on sale holds most of the advantage, but the Griz should still have some appeal...not everyone shops Sears, plus it'll take up a bit less space. It's quite a bargain compared to a nice looking GI 50-220M1 at closer to $900 with the Biese. The GI has an interesting dual drive stage that gives the blade alot of torque, has a 50" rail option for a modest increase in cost, has a longer warranty, and is available through dealers...so it has some advantages too but at more of a price premium. The GI 50-220 with the basic aluminum fence brings the GI down well under $800.
