I need to buy a switch for my Delta Contractor Table Saw.
Called Delta and I am 2 mos. past warranty.
Any switches that will last longer than two years?

If you keepp the switch box sealed then a switch should last more than a couple of years.

The switch came with the saw. Are you saying I could have sealed it somehow?
Delta wanted 14.95 for a new one but I don't want to change every 2 years.
I have several tools over 20 years old and I don't remember ever having to buy a switch.
A little uncomfortable when I turn off switch and saw keeps running.
Thanks for info.
Switches will go bad because of wear. If sawdust gets into the switch box, it will hasten the wear. That said. It doesn't sound like that happened in your case.
My guess is there was something wrong with the switch to begin with. It just took two years for it to show up. I really don't think your going to have to replace the switch every two years. Len

Ebay tends to have lots of items like a TS switch.
What is a good one to buy I guess is my question.
I had the same problem with Delta switches, one on the TS and one on my Delta lathe. I just think they're lousy switches. I bought a replacement from Delta for the TS but when the lathe switch went out I replaced it with a high amp switch and box from Home Depot. Works like a charm. Good luck.

Yea, I took the switch apart and it is pretty chincy. Don't think I want another one.
Dooda, I suspect Len's right, there was something amiss with that switch from the get-go 'Twere it me, I'd go with the stock switch from Delta. You avoid any headaches with a switch that wasn't made for the saw.
I don't know what your Delta saw pulls in the way of amps, but my old Jet 1.5 HP contractor saw was listed at 18 amps. Be sure whatever switch you get meets specs.
You can get a twenty amp switch that will fit box like used in house wiring for lights. My advice is don't. You need a switch designed for motors because a motor can draw several times its normal running amperage at start up.
Ooops, I think you meant for that message to be addressed to the OP (doodabug)forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Thanks, I've been known to make a mistake here and there. Just hope it isn't on expensive wood.
It is wired for 110v 15 amp. Or can be wired for 220v 7.5 amp.
I have been reading about your headaches.
I replaced my switch with one with a large paddle for turning it off from Grizzley- and moved it to the front rail of my fence (Powermatic contractors saw). I really like this new arrangement
Jeff
Thanks, I think that what I am wanting. Do you know the part number?
this is the one I used (I converted to 220 a while back- there is a 110 version as well)

I bought the Grizzly switch rated 110/220. Just hooked it up and works fine.
Thanks.
I had the same thing happen on another tool and replaced it with a heavy duty switch that looks like a heavy duty light switch that will handle the load.
