I’m hoping to get a better idea of how many folks are planning on coming to MontanaFest this August 12, 13, 14. These numbers will tell me if we need caterers, large festival tents, porta-potties, etc.
I also want to start a guest list.
So, if you are planning on coming, or thinking about coming please let me know. I’ll add your name to the guest list. So much of how this festival comes off depends on the number of attendees so I really need to start getting a handle on it. I have not been keeping track of those who have said they are coming so tell me again even if you have before now.
MontanaFest has it’s own domain and website now, it’s www.MontanaFest.com
It’s gonna be a blast and I’m looking forward to meeting so many in person. Please help me spread the word to other forums because MontanaFest is for all woodworkers.

Here's a list of those who are coming, I'm adding as new names come in.

As to workshops; Sam Simpson, a restoration guru will be doing a workshop on wood finishing and Joe Johns will be doing one on tuning a table saw in addition to the ones already listed.
Check it out, folks, it's going to be quite a festival.

Wow Lee good memory. The baby seems to be doing well so I am planning on being at Montanafest with the family and one well rounded wife ,looks like you have some very interesting folks lined up for workshops.Did you notice the post about Mars in August? We should be able to see it pretty well where you live. Hows your spring bears any Problems? By the way it's Vail.

Bears? In our dozen years in this spot only one bear trampled by and he was in no mood to stay. The only time we see bears in out part of the valley is when the hills (mountains) are too dry to bear food and even then it's September or so before the bruins show up.I'm glad your wife's doing well. Yup, there are no large cities nearby so we have a great night sky.I have one Tim in the guest list, it must be you. If it's not send me an email.Cheers buddy, it's gonna be a blast!LeeMontanaFest
Just bumping to bring this to the top again... So how are the plans shaping up?SYSOP[email protected]Have you updated your forum profile lately? Please Do!
Hey Mark, thanks for the bump. I've been thinking it's time I brought this to everyone's attention again.Things are falling into place nicely. Workshops are forming, I've got menus from the caterers, tents and tables are reserved, a band has been booked for Saturday night, the musicians among us will be jamming on Friday night around a campfire..., all is in place.Everyone here is invited and the link below my name will take you to all the information you should need. People are committing by sending their checks and there are a lot who have yet to firm up their August plans. I'm much more appreciative of the Breaktimers who have been doing these fests for years, it's a lot of work but this is going to be a rare oppurtunity for us all. Ruthie and I are very excited. If anyone here is interested in attending let me know and visit the link below for more information.LeeMontanaFest
I'm bumping this thread back into view. Take a look at the link below and consider yourselves warmly invited to a festival for woodworkers. It's just a wee bit over a month away!It would be great to meet you all! Ask here or email any questions you have to me.LeeMontanaFest
What do you think Lee?
Daunting task starts to wane.
Valiant effort fast approaches.
Best of luck, good weather, great time!Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

What do I think? I think it's going to be a blast! Most everything is in place and I've set aside a few days prior and a couple after to set up and tear down. Like with all of these fests people are still on the fence so it's hard to pin numbers down. Fortunately I have a caterer who can adapt up until a few days before the fest. We've got the porta potties reserved, the festival tents, and people lined up to do workshops as well as a lot of background stuff going on like lathes, vacuum press, tournaments, contests and impromtu sessions that will invariably form.Good weather will help a lot but we've got a lot of square feet under cover, about 4,000 square feet, so we can deal with cloudbursts and such.Calvin, ole buddy, I wish you the best for your festival. I know how much work goes into one of these now and have a new respect for those willing to take it on. I'm betting yours comes off really well. The planning time is nearly over and in a month's time you and I will be up to our necks in this fest thing. I'm really excited and have great confidence it will come off well. For those who don't know, Calvin is hosting a Breaktime Fest on the same weekend. It's a pity we are on the same weekend but it just worked out that way.Cheers Calvin, the pulse is quickening...LeeMontanaFest
Ha Ha Ha Lee.
You are right on the money on the organizing of these things. I've mentioned to my wife Joyce a couple times (she's the one who volunteered our hosting.......), I'd rather drive 24 hours to one, that attempt to put one on. Mama Mia, the details are overwhelming.......at least they appear to be at the time.
The indecisiveness and mind changing is a bit unnerving. I don't know about woodworkers, but you'd think contractors would have this future planning and time blocking down. Not the case, some are still deciding.
We are a little more casual on the activities. The usual Fest approved Bocce and my personal favorite-Horseshoes. A shingle mural demo is planned along with some non standard rail installs if my buddy can come down from the U-P. We've got a couple tools to test b/4 they're given away. Been pretty lucky procuring Door Prizes.
Did you get a shirt order together? Be happy to trade one of ours for one or yours. I'd be thinking an XL if you have one.
And, I'll send you some walleye if you send me some ribs..........
Best of luck to all you Montanafesters.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

I have a really hard time imagining anyone from Ohio being able to pitch a horseshoe. Maybe some poor and unfortunate soul had to move there from Montana..., then I could picture it, but someone who is there by choice..., nahh, no way. It would be fun to teach you about pitching horseshoes, Calvin, but you're busy the weekend I'll be holding a clinic on just that topic.Perhaps another time...I hope your fest is great!LeeMontanaFest
I tell you what Lee, when we meet we play till dark.
Then we put on a blindfold and keep at it.
Then there's my wife.
And no, she doesn't pitch from any closer. 5'2" and 105 she'll have you down before you know it.
Let's not even think about mentioning money...........
I know the Montanafest will be a thing to behold.Remodeling Contractor just outside the Glass City.

Lee,
Do you have a shedule for the work shops yet? And by the way I'm originally from Ohio and have known not a few good horseshoe pitchers . They don't have to many horses any more ,so what are you supposed to do with all those extra horseshoes? ;)

I'll get the schedule worked up this week but plan on the headliners doing their thing on Saturday. The horseshoe pit will get a lot of action, it's one of my favorite things to do.LeeMontanaFest
Assuming I am able to make it out to MontanaFest, I will have to judge the "whos better in the shoe throwing" as I played against Calvin at last years RhodeFest. He does throw a mean shoe... Not so bad myself... ;) I will know in the next couple of days if I will be able to attend. -MSYSOP[email protected]Have you updated your forum profile lately? Please Do!
Well now, Mark, you know there's only one real test. Calvin and I need to meet. But, if you make it here we'll play and you can report to Calvin about just how much practice he'll need. Hah, hah, ha...I do hope you can make it. LeeMontanaFest
Or how much he can relax his game... ;) hahahaha...
Either way I better get out and start slinging some shoes myself, gotta get my arm ready! Be talking with you. -MSYSOP[email protected]Have you updated your forum profile lately? Please Do!
Mark, Something my father taught me a long time ago.

"Don't show 'em any more than you have to."That's the very reason I button my shirt up, Calvin.LeeMontanaFest
I thought that only applied to your trousers, Lee. Slainte.RJFurniture
Well now, you've hit upon an instance where less is more, Sgian. I tried the "pants-around-the-ankles" look but it didn't suit my anatomy well.LeeMontanaFest
Hopefully because you keep tripping over somethi.....
I have a really hard time imagining anyone from Ohio being able to pitch a horseshoe.??
I did that here in Chicago as a kid.. But I missed most of the time!
Well, it's true that there is an awful lot of space around the pin that's easier to hit but as with most things a bit of practice improves your luck.LeeMontanaFest
