I received some burl caps (asian or SA) last week and they have a white mold on the uncut face. I have stored them in open air, the humidity has been high, for a week but the mold still seems healthy. Any suggestions for stopping the mold without damaging the caps. The caps are, max, 7 inches diameterand 3 inches high.
Any suggestions are welcome. I read S. Robinson in the current FWW and will try sealing the caps in airtight, clear plastic.

You might try a solution of 1 part bleach to 3 parts water. Try it first on the cap you like the least, in case the bleach affects the wood. This will kill mildew and generally is safe on wood, but I'm not sure whether it also works on other molds.

Hi David,
Thank you, I'm trying them in dorect sunlight now. The white mold on the surface at least has dried up. I've been putting off bleach but will try that next.
