Does anyone know of a moisture meter that will, with reasonable accuracy, measure the moisture to the center of thick stock, say four to eight inches. I am specifically interested in measuring moisture in turning blanks without the bother of weighing the piece once a week or so.

You could always treat an identical blank as sacrificial and, like cheeses are tested, bore out a core every week to test the center.
The weighing will give results and is reliable.

Why not turn them green?
You certainly won't find a pinless meter. Any other meter will be accurate enough but you would need 4" pins which would make a hole in your turning stock. We just got the Ligno duo which is pin less and a pin type meter and with the hammer probe was around $500. Pins are more than just nails. The main body of the pins are insulated so just the tip of the pins give a reading. I have 2" pins so I can get to the center of 4" stock. Weighing is still your best bet.
