How tall/high and how long do you folks typically make the fence for your miter guage?
Or do you have several different sizes for different purposes?

I don't think I ever needed anything taller than what the miter guage provided. If I did, I would just attach an auxiliary fence. That might require drilling a couple screw holes through the miter guage fence but that shouldn't hurt it any.

I use an Osborne gauge that extends out to perhaps 30" or so, and is around 2 1/2" high. Operations that might require a taller or longer miter gauge might warrant additional safety considerations, such as work-piece clamping, or switching to some sort of sled.
I have the Incra 1000 se and have not needed an extended fence. If I did it's grooved to accept a fence it were needed. I can't think of a need in my usage.
