Christmas is coming and after struggling to use the “factory” miter gauge that came with my saw, I’ve decided to add a precision one to my list. Can anyone offer an opinion on the Incra 1000SE vs. the 3000SE vs. the Jessem Mite-R-Excel? Is 1/10 degree accuracy needed or is 1/2 degree sufficient? Are the flip stops useful beyond 30″ (the 1000SE limit)? The 3000 goes to 47″ and the Jessem to 36″. Any other thoughts would be great!

www,
The 1000SE is great, its met all my expectations. However, that jessum looks to be a bit more substantial...and on long cuts with hard woods the SE can get a bit whippy throwing off the cut. The question becomes is the jesum worth the money differential.
I bought the Incra 1000 before there was the SE and have gotten a 36" flip fence to go on it when I need the length. It is a very good bang for the buck. The Incra 3000 is too over priced in my opinion. Forget the 2000, It's a pain to reverse to the other side. When Nickles permit I want to get the Mite-R-Excel, It has to be the "Swiss watch" of miter gauges. I've played with one and It is a joy to use.
Spend the extra $90 for the Jessum ! You won't regret it.

I have the 3000SE and don't care for it at all. The only Incra tool in my shop that sucks. It gets used primarily on a 1023Z table saw and a router table. It has always been sloppy in the TS. To adjust it you have to crank down on small allen screws, hence small bendable allen wrenches. These force plastic washers to expand into the slot. Use causes the plastic washers to need to be adjusted after a time, and you have to go through the whole circus act of disassembling the body to get to some of the adjustment screws again.
I have a fancy one from woodhaven and its pretty good, my father has the osborne and likes the woodhaven that I have better. Really scientific but hope that helps some. They are both better than the stock gauge that came with the Jet contractors saw and the Delta Unisaw.

I looked at all of the top dog mitre gauges and selected the Jessem Mite-R-Excel. It is far more substantial than the others.
So far we have :
The Jessem at substantial and Swiss Watch like.
The 1000SE as adequate, but some whip in the extendable fence
The 3000SE as not worth the money.
I thank all that have replied - I'm leaning toward the Jessem unless there is a sudden goundswell for Incra quality.
Thanks All and Happy T-Day!
I bought a Kreg, never thought it could be so easy to be so accurate. Right on the mark out of the box.
I have the Kreg jig, works great. Easy, repeatable, stops, great support.
There is a review and comments regarding the accuracy of the Jessem miter gauge on Sawmill Creek:

I agree with most of the posts. The Jessem is by far the best after market miter gauge. I have their miter gauge, router table and router lift. All first class pieces of equipment.
I wouldn’t use any of them. I have built saw sleds for most commonly used angles and making a special jig is no problem when it is needed. The best part of a sled is it is ALWAYS repeatable.
