I’m looking for a recipe for a mission style finish. What do you recommend?

Here is one good schedule:

I recently did several new pieces to match my great-grandfather's barrister's bookcase. My recipe - which produces a dark mission brown - was as follows:
- Sand to 180; raise the grain with water, re-sand. Sand edges and endgrain to 220.
- One full-strength coat of TransTint Dark Mission Brown dye. Dry 8 hours.
- One half-strength coat of TransTint Dark Mission Brown - just to even out any blotching in the first coat. Dry 24 hours.
- One coat of Watco Golden Oak - this seems to bring out the yellowing in the rays. Dry 24 hours.
- One coat of Deft lacquer sanding sealer (spray). Dry 4 hours. Sand to 220.
- Two coats of Deft clear wood finish (spray lacquer). Dry 2 hours between coats; scuff-sand between coats.
Go over the final finish with 0000 steel wool to take the highest shine off.
Very easy, fast to apply, very consistent between pieces.
