For those of you that use milkpaint a lot, do you seal the knots in pine before apllying the milk paint? If so, what do you find works well (shellac, etc)? Thanks. Kieran

ktkamm,
It's been a while since I've used milk paint.
I'm thinking that shellac applied only on the knots
may show thru the milk paint as a different texture.
I would suggest you compare shellac vs Zinser 123
on a test scrap of wood to see how they compare.

Thanks Bill
I generally use milk paint from http://www.milkpaint.com in their instructions they say to seal the knots with a coat of shellac then aply the first coat of milkpaint while the shellac is still tacky.
Or you can prep the knots with a mixture of milk paint and their extrabond addative which will help seal the knots and help the milk pant adhere.

Thanks Webby. I think I actually have some of the bonding product from that company in one of my drawers.
