Thanks, Grandpoco. I'm sure it's simpler than the pattern-maker's thing.
For most conversion I need, I simply pull out my electronic caliper, roll it to the measurement I need to convert, and then push the mm/inch button to get the conversion.
Your electronic caliper would be nice, but lacking that I keep a calculator in the shop and I get the results in a few seconds.
