Does anyone know how the large maple top is assembled to the base in the Matt Kenney Workbench? Everything else looks straightforward but from what I can see, the top is just sitting on the base without ANY fasteners or mortise/tenon joints. Did I miss something?

Steve,
Sorry about that oversight. I recommend attaching two cleats to the underside of the top. There should be one snug against the inside edge of each top cross member of the trestle ends. The top is so heavy that it doesn't take much to keep it in place.
One word of caution, when you attach the cleats, make sure you take the top's contraction and expansion into account. Put a screw in the middle of the cleat, and one on either end. For the ones on either end, make a slot in the cleat. That way the screw can move with the top and not tear the cleat apart.
