Last sunday I picked up the lumber for the new workbench and a bathroom cabinet. This is maple, 2 1/8″ thick 5 1/2″ to 10″ wide and up to 11′ long. I payed $1.55 CAN bft, seems like a steal to me. Wood has 14% moisture, so it has to dry for a while.
The wife let me buy it because I have to built a bathroom towel cabinet! So now is the time to get a new bandsaw to do some resawing. Anybody selling one in or around Coquitlam, BC, Canada?

You stole that maple. Make sure you get a bandsaw that has at least 1 1/2 hp. Use a blade for resawing.I use a 2 or 3 tooth 3/4" wide blade for resawing.

I know, it was a good deal. This guy is selling birch, maple, alder for $0.90 to $2 CAN bft. Everything is air dried for 2-3 years. And the good thing is: he is a swiss guy so I can talk german to him (makes allways for a good connection).
Doch ist das immer gut, wenn Mann Deutsch sprechen kann! :-)
Ja, Deutsch ist gut! Haben sie ein guten tag!

Ich bedanke mich. Ebenfalls!
Mike,
Grade?
I get thins in maple/black walnut cherry etc. (less than 1 inch thick) for $20.00 a pickup truck load.. (about a 1000 bd.ft.) they are mill run and since thins tend to come near the center of the log they tend to have a great deal more character (er, lower grade)
mill run sells for about the price mentioned (once I factor in the exchage rate) around here and actaully depending on what the market is doing may sell for much less..
Frenchy, I'm in the southern part of New Jersey, log run is almost non existent here. I did buy white oak,log run a couple of years ago. Paid $1.00 a bf for 5/4, air dried to 12%.

My doctor grabbed me by the wallet and said "Cough!"
Yours gave ya it free!
I pay more for Canadian PINE!
If I would go to the local wholesaler I would pay $4CAN. And besides that, I like to support the local small business not the big guys like this wholesaler.
well being from Canada myself I know that was a steal.
