I bought a Lufkin c square from e-bay, but it does not say lufkin on the 90/45 head or the center finder. Was I riped off?

Hey Rich,
I have a Lufkin combo square that was my dad's, it clearly say's 'Lufkin Rule Company, Saginaw Mich, Made in USA' on the 32/64 side of the ruler.
Hope this helps
Rich,
Heads often times did not have the maker's name on them, it was much easier just to mark the ruler. So it is quite possible that you have the genuine article. The only way to be sure would be to find a vintage Lufkin catalog and compare their illustration with what you purchased. Lufkin made excellent tools, easily equal to Starrett.

I have an old square that was my father's. It says Lufkin on the blade but no markings at all elsewhere. Considering my Dad's penchant for doing whatever it took to get the job done, it could be any brand. Nevertheless, it really doesn't matter, the tool is obviously of high quality, it is accurate, and operates smoothly. If yours is likewise.....what's the difference?

From memory, my Lufkin combo has an imprint only on the blade.
Rich, I have two Lufkin combo squares, an18" and a 4" In both cases the name is only on the blade.
