I’ve been searching unsuccessfully for a shaper cutter that I originally thought shouldn’t be all that hard to find. I want to be able to put a 1/4″ radius convex quarter-round profile set back about 3/4″ from the edge of a board, reducing the thickness of the outer 3/4″ of the board. What I’m looking for would be like the cutter shown at https://www.finewoodworking.com/app/uploads/http://eagleamerica.com/pop_alternate_view.asp?t=l&pif=286-8690.jpg?t=l&pif=286-8690.jpg but with a concave rather than convex quarter round profile at the outer edge. Or a straight (rabbeting) cutter with one concave quarter round corner. Does anyone know of such a cutter, or will I have to resort to having one made?

Like a thumbnail cutter with a 1/4" radius?

Check Elite tools up in Quebec, I believe. I've been purchasing several of their shaper cutters, and they are quite a bit less than Freeborn, and I have been extremely pleased with their quality. They have a website. Fast service, and fast shipping.

wood,
Have you considered making the shape in two cuts? Work a rabbet on the edge, then (or first) run the qtr rd with a conventional cutter by running the stock on edge with the cutter raised 3/4" above the table.
