I am looking for a “block knife”. They are long heavy blades with a handle on one end and an upturned prong on the other end of the blade. You put a stout staple into a log end and then hook the prong under it and hold the wood with one hand while paring by levering the knife down against the fulcrum created by the staple.
These were traditionally used in the carving of wooden clogs (or klompen) and I think that Woodcraft sold one at one time. I can’t seem to find any source for them at this time though. Does anyone here remember seeing them offered recently?
