Evening all,
Well it is evening down here in Sydney Australia.
In a couple of weeks I move to Darwin in the very north of Australia, where the humidity is very high. The US equivalent is a move from say San Fran to Nicaragua! I will be there for 2 years. Clearly I will be taking some tools with me, and leaving some of the heavier machinery, and more valuable antique tools behind in storage.
Can anyone advise how I should prepare the tools for storage, and also those I am taking with me to avoid damage especially Rust!
Slightly separate question, I have a 100 year old American oak roll top desk. I suspect that I shouldn’t take it with me – Any suggestions.

Peter,
Suggest you follow the manufacturers' method of coating all the machined surfaces with cosmoline and paper or plastic to seal out moisture.
Don't know what to tell you about the desk. Good luck.

The machinery can survive with a coat of cosmoline, or maybe even a spritz of almost any oil.
But the furniture is a different story. If you want wood furniture to look the same after two years in storage, then the storage facility needs to be climate controlled, including humidity control.
I know that's bad news, so far as cost is concerned. But its the truth.
