For the past two years I have been looking for a local woodworker who could make me a one of a kind treasure chest jewelry box. And I found him. Not only did the jewelry box turned out excellent but I found out that that is not his specialty. To make a long story short, if you want cheap prices and excellent craftsmanship. Contact Prime Woodworking Co. 12200 Bell Road, Marysville OH. Bus:(614)873-0859 Just ask for Dave.

I suggest that you contact Dave and pay him what his work is worth.
That poor bas*ard! Now he can't raise his prices to go along with his work! It's a crime and a damned shame the man can't charge a real value!! I sure hope he got a good tip.....that's what nice folks do when they've been given a great product at an even greater price ya know!
Uh, Chris, I think you're talking to the wrong crowd here. Typically us woodworkers do our own woodworking.
I also agree with what the others have said, it really is a shame that no one wants to pay a skilled worker what they are worth. In this day and age everyone wants something for nothing, and eventually a skilled craftsman will be almost non existent. I'm just glad that I am skilled with my hands because I sure as hell wouldn't want to be the poor b@stard that will end up paying an arm and a leg for a skilled worker. I won't have a problem charging people for skilled work though :) Rant mode off.

Christopher,
Although your intentions were good, I have to agree you may have the wrong forum. My suggestion (which you may have already done) is to spread your good word locally.
Each of us in this business know that there is no better advertisment than word of mouth, good or bad. Your obvious appreciation for this man's work will go a long way toward helping him develop his client base.
Woodworking is a passion for most of it's pursuers and unfortunatly at times it seems the pay doesn't justify the devotion put in to each piece. A good tip also goes a long way toward showing your appreciation. A hand penned letter or card is also a great way to show your appreciation and a good addition to the woodworkers portfolio.
Spread the good word.
Hey you guys, Christopher didn't say what he paid for the the box, it may have been a fair price but to him it was cheap because he didn't have the skill or tools to do it. I had stents put in my heart 10-31-98 and I will guarantee they were cheap compared to the alternative. I'm still on this side of the grass chatting with you guys.
Gods Peace

Les,
Point taken.
Yes, it's all relative. 20 some years, and a check in hand is worth several dozen in the postal bush, but a kind word, a sincere aappreciation, is worth a lot. If you wanted fortune, where is that med degree, or the bus. degree? blah, blah. A check in hand does make up for many other shortcomings. Possibly, I have too many bills.
I've got this feeling that Dave Prime is not going to be getting a lot of custom orders from Knots members. But if I'm ever in that area of OH I'd like to stop by and see his toys.
Enjoy, Roy
