Hi. I have a walnut cabinet that I would like to apply an initial coat of boiled linseed oil to (thinned 20% with mineral spirits) for maximum depth. I would then like to use my standard choice of Sam Maloof Oil/Poly finish. Will there be any compatibility problem between the Maloof oil/poly and the linseed oil? The oil/poly already has tung and linseed in it so I’d guess not, but would like to know for sure. Thanks.

David,
You can apply the BLO if you wish without problem. I would ask why bother because that oil poly mixture will give you pretty much the same look.

Thanks. Yes, and actually I tried on a piece of scrap and there is virtually zero difference in the appearance. I will use the oil/poly and skip the linseed oil. Thank you again. -DL
