The problem is simple; how to cut legs so that the horizontal plane they support is level. So to make the base of the foot parallel to the surface I’ve come up with a dozen solutions from trig to jigs. Making a lot of benches and tables the easiest I’ve found is to make a simple template; 2 parallel lines right height. Great for production, but seems like overkill foe a one-off. Various styles, various angles and heights. Is there a simple trick I’m missing?

H,
Perhaps this chair/stool method can be adapted?

Lataxe, getting ready to go horizontal as it's after 10pm here.
That's basically what I do. Coming from you I feel comfortable.
Thanks.
