Greg, Snipe length is determined by the distance of the feed rollers from the cutter-head.
However, it can be longer if the board is thinner on the end than the height of the roller. If the board is allowed to drop below the plane of the bed, this will allow the board to come up from the bed into the cutter well before it gets to the end.
The fix is to slightly lift the end of the board slightly above the line of feed, both in and out, forcing the rollers to push the lumber down to the bed

Ya didn't hit im in the knots did ya?

I finally found a link on the Dewalt site that said min board thickness is 1/8 inch. So I guess the distance from the bed to the pressure rollers is 1/8" when the head is closest to the bed.Greg

Hi,I've read that to eliminate snipe, add strips of same thickness board to both sides of the primary piece. The strips should be longer in length than the primary piece so they can absorb the beginning and ending snipe. Hope this helps.Best, drf
