I would like some feedback from anyone who owns a Legacy Mill. I’m thinking about buying one but want to hear from users. Thanks

Hi Blair,
There is a gentleman on the UK Workshop forum I frequent with the user name JFC which owns one.
Here is a topic he started sometime back
http://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10411&highlight=legacy+mill
Feel free to ping him from there as he seems very knowledgable about it.
Take care, Mike
Thanks Mike, quick response! Went to the link than you. Still want to hear from some real high end users of this seemingly amazing tool.

Thanks Mike, quick response!
You're welcome, Blair. I just happened to pop into the forum right after your post. I think there are a couple people there with them. That person was the first person I "knew" who had one. Builds nice stuff.
Hopefully people who have them will respond in this thread. I will enjoy learning more about them.
Take care, Mike
Hi....
I have only had mine for a few weeks, I have the 1000EXL with the vertical and horizontal vises. I just sold my first work for pay with the machine and made enough to pay for the tool, in my book a very fast return on investment. The job was 15 half columns partially fluted, work the Legacy is well suited for. I have had a blast playing with it and can see a lot of oportunitys in it's capabilities. I highly recommend buying the complete set of bits from Magnate.
The 1000 is an older version of the newer 1200?? Did you buy it used? Can you send me photos of your work?
Thanks
Blair
I did buy it used, I was ready to bite the bullet and buy new when this one came up. It had all the goodies except for the motor drive and looks unused although I know the pervious owner and it has been used. He takes exceptionally good care of his tools. He charged me 40% of the total on his sales slip which I thought was more than fair.
I have 15 tapered fluted half columns coming up and will post some pics. Been too busy in the shop to even play with it much which is driving me crazy! I think the biggest piece it will take is 83"x14". It's the 1000EXL. I'm going to get the motor drive, it does take a lot of hand cranking.

I did a search on the web for a used Legacy and only found one. It was like new, the 1200, with all the attachments, motor drive and router. The owner worked for the company and bought everything. The price was almost the new cost coming in at 4000. for the lot plus shipping. (ouch)
Sound likle you got a really good deal at 40% of cost.

I looked a lot too. Two have come up on e-bay since Jan. One guy would not ship and was back east and the other was a 900 with all the goodies that went for 3000+, I quit bidding at 2500. It appears that the people that buy them keep them. I've tried to get a deal at shows too, no dice.

Check the Dallas Morning News classifieds for about a week ago under Tools. There was a Legacy 1000 for about $1,000 asked.
Thanks for the tip but I'm happy with mine.
