what are you
do you go by the book and picture and follw each step with the same wood – left brained
do you make up the project and just get inspiration from a book. mixing and matching the woods as you please – right brained
yeah, I’m more right brained
while we’re talkin’ about brains and wood, do you like very figured wood, semi figured, or clean wood. I
I like semi figured.

I must be center brained, I try to have as many unfinished projects on hand as possible.

My wife would definately put me squarely in your category.
LOL

Actually I heard there is a different test to determine.
The left side of the body is controled by the right side of the brain and the right side of your body is controlled by the left side of your brain. Therefore only left handed people are in their right minds!!!!
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
and when you get a stoke in the left side of your brain, your right side of your body goes limp. (that may be a myth)

This attached file may not work, but it's worth a shot.

Hey, that was fun! I'm 50:50 right-brain/left-brain, heavily auditory according to the conclusions at the end. Interesting stuff said about the way I learn n' such. Want to give it to hubby and see if I can pinpoin why he and I butt heads so often, LOL! Thanks, JM.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)

I took the test. I am dead centered both ways. It's final analysis of my personality was so dead on it was scary.
Andy -
By that definition, I'm so right-brained that it's almost painful - lol.
I've never bought a set of plans for anything I've ever built. At most, I've studied published plans to learn how something was made, but even that often gets modified to suit the needs of what I'm trying to do.
That's not to say that I don't use plans, however. I don't start the saw without at least a rough sketch of what I plan to do, and the more complex projects get more detailed planning.
I've been using CAD programs for 20 years and - for some projects - will completely "build" them on the computer before going into the shop. It's amazing how often I find (and fix) problems without making a speck of sawdust. The "Undo" command is possibly the greatest computer command ever. - lol

Will,
I stick my left arm out and I fall down!
Which side do you fall? Me, I'd probably fall backwards! :-)

Me? Just ask anyone who's seen my work: no brained. ;)

andy,
Most of my ideas have been categorized as hare-brained. Hope that clarifies things.

They call mine crap!
That anyone who would buy into a simple test must mean they are left brained because they believe in science. On the other hand, because they believe the test could be accurate in any meaningful way must mean they are right brained beceause they are dreamers.
I must be lame-brained. I always start with a detailed set of plans, but the project ends up looking like something I made up! :-0
Don't feel bad. I've found that some of the so called plans being sold out there are crap that don't work or look right.
Hmmmm.....
Here is something I learned a while back;
You can ask someone a somewhat complex math question and by the direction they tend to look while figuring it out you can tell if they are right or left handed.
Just ask them something like "What is 12 X 131". (OK that's somewhat complex for me!). They will tend to look off to the right or left. Unconsciously "searching" the dominant or stronger side of the brain for the answer. If they look to the left chances are they are right handed since, as we know, the left controls the right and so on. Try it, it works! Most of the time.
Be interested to know if it works for you guys. A good way to catch the lefties hiding among us! ;)

I look down or up lol
Ductape can fix EVERYTHING!!!
Theres always ONE in the crowd! ;)
Keep looking up bro.

We have much in common!
Brian
I look crosseyed with a problem like that. Duh!
I know that look!
Brian
Andy,
By your definition, right-brained. (Much better than wrong-brained!) Figured wood is often preferred to plain wood, though it has it's place.
