Lee, just wanted to return and tell you that, true to my promise, I tried a secondary bevel on a bench chisel recently for a little trimming in the “bevel down” orientation. I am humbled. It makes for a tremendous difference in control and accuracy, and will appear on most of my bench chisels as their turn at sharpening comes ’round.

Despite the rocky start, I thank you for your sage advice and for sticking to your guns. Old dogs CAN learn new tricks – just takes a little longer….
