Hi all,
I am a regular over at breaktime and not a serious woodworker but rather a contractor who works restoring old houses so I end up doing a bit of millwork to match existing millwork. So…
I got a job that is giving me a good excuse to buy a lathe and I need recommendations. I think I just need a basic one with around 36″ to 42″ center to center and want to spend $450 to $600. I have run a lathe a little but know very little about what makes a good one. I live near a Grizzly showroom and was looking at the G1067Z a little bit. So… any help?
Thanks
Day

restorationday,
You might want to take a look at Sears http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/subcat.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=TOOL&cat=Bench+Power+Tools&subcat=Lathes&keyword
Its got variable speed, indexing and when set on a heavy bench very steady.
