I am planing on laminating two pieces of 3/4 MDF, about 30″ X 40″, to make a machine stand top. I plan on using urea resin glue and screws. I’ll remove the screws after the glue is cured . What is the best spacing for the screws, both from the edges and in the field?

Bob,
I would set my perimeter screws in about 1 1/4 inches and then place the screws in the field about 5 to 6 inches apart, for a total of about 60 to 70 screws.
To pull the two panels tightly together, the holes in the top panel will have to be predrilled to clear the screw shank and it wouldn't hurt to counter sink the holes on the underside of the predrilled panel to clear the chips created by the screw as it enters the second piece of MDF.
For large surfaces I use disposable 3 or 4 inch wide paint rollers to apply the glue.

John,
Thanks, you confirmed my intuition. Good call on countersinking the far side.
