   I got an old used PC and had a plastic shop make a clear base for me, actually, two bases, in case one broke.

   Tom, for serious work the best for me is my PC 310, now discontinued by Black and Pecker, but may still be available from TOOLKING.COM. It is not a tall can shape, more like a 40% sized router-flat top- with weight not all at the top.

   Pat Warner-aka ROUTERMAN here on knots had the clear and the offset clear bases on sale at a  good price and they are nice. All the best, Paddy

   Thanks, Paddy. I've found several places on the web selling the 310 anywhere from $141 to $175. With a clear base, it would be a sweet tool. How tall is it? I need to get into some tight spots with it. Tom"Notice that at no time do my fingers leave my hand"

   Tom, it's fat but not so tall, perhaps 3/4 height or slightly less than a PC 690. I don't have mine here in NY, it's in TN in the future shop. Check Pat Warners site as he may have posted the specs or an old review in one of the mags. Maybe a kind knothead will measure up for ya. Paddy
