I’m getting ready to spring for a Kreg pocket hole jig. I’m trying to decide between the K2 model, which looks like it has an aluminum body, and the K2000, which looks like it has a plastic body. Same price for both.
I can see the K2000 is probably more versatile, but is there any advantage to the aluminum body on the K2? More longevity? More rigidity?
My intended primary use is for cabinet face frame and box construction. Thanks.

Shaper Origin Handheld CNC Router
The Origin has a touch screen that controls a small trim type router motor with a 1⁄4-in. collet. I have owned a K2 for 5 or 6 years. Best $100 ever spent.
Have thought about getting the K2000 because it is more versatile and it has the case, etc. As long as the plastic is as tough as the aluminum, you won't be giving anything up and you will gain an increased ability to pocket screw 2X material.
Spoke with the Kreg people at the Woodworkers show. They said they hardly ever sell a K2 anymore.
I would buy the kit.

Id go with the kit also. I have the K2 and love it but I like the additional attachments with the kit. The single hole (I bought one and love it) plus the extension 1 1/2 mat'l seems like it would be great to own as well as the ability to PH 1/2 mat'l.

Never even seen a K2 but thought I'd throw in that the 2000 is stupidly simple. Heck, my brother in law could figure it out. The plastic is durable. I've drilled tons of holes with it and no complaints. Did learn that the bits don't like bubinga real well, but that's another story I guess. Makes a nice black conversation piece on the counter :-)

K2000 has chip relief openings - K2 can now be sent to factory and modified with these openings - get a K2000.
