In the article “Great Gifts for Under $50”, Bob Van Dyk mentions that you can use “keyway keys” for spacing and a thousand uses. I have seen these in woodworking catalogs made from brass, but he mentions that his are made from machined steel and cost upwards of thirty cents. I had no luck at my local hardware store. Does anyone know of an online supplier for these?
Thanks,
Ken

Here you go.

You can buy what is called "key stock" at any good hardware store (probably even at a big box). They come in about 12 inch lengths, and various sizes on the other two dimensions. Cut them to whatever lengths you need.
Or try maudlinproducts.com
