Hi all!
Thinking of making some small items out of Katsura but I am lost trying to find any. Anyone know of any sources?
Thanks!
Adam

Adam,
Cercidiphyllum japonicum, The lumber size trees are still growing in places like the Arnold Arboretum, Boston. Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge and in New York, at the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.
If I may ask, where did you see this used as a finished object. The tree is native to Japan, Korea and China. It may be available from there, but that's only a guess.
I hope this helps, I just moved and my library is still in boxes, so I'm working off memory.

Ron,Using "The Google" I found only one woodworker who has used it for furniture: http://nwfinewoodworking.com/spencer_horn/diningroom_furniture_64.htmIt is traditionally used to create boards for the Japanese game 'Go' (http://www.yutopian.com/go/table/katsura45.html). I'd like to try my hand at making a board myself using ebony or walnut inlay for the grid.Adam
