Was watching Dateline NBC when a commercial came on advertsing what I believe they called a “laser liner”.. didn’t catch the manufacturer.. but they show a guy hanging two shelves.. crooked at first.. then using this device that affixes to the wall.. and shoots a straight red “laser” line across the wall. The device has a level bubble in it which you line up and then shoot the line. I’m going looking for one of those beauties tomorrow. Have a great weekend all!

These are pretty much the norm now. They come within a 2' level and are accurate. Just another step into the future.

I have some memory that the laser is built into a tape measure. Is that correct? It was one of the common companies, maybe Stanley.

Getting old. What caught my attention Friday night dissolved into the ether by Saturday mornnig. Didn't even think about until today when I got notification of your message by email. And the worst thing is that I was at both HD and Lowes, twice over the weekend. Oh, well.. next trip.

Hah! Obviously, you're not as afflicted by gadget-itis as we thought you were, if you can forget that quickly, LOL!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Got up Saturday morning..itching to get in the shop to continue work on a cabinet I've been building.. but the Mrs had other ideas. Had to take both kids on honey dos from 9am to 3:30 in the afternoon. Did manage to squeeze in one trip each to HD and Lowes but it's so easy to lose my 3 and 6 year olds in those big boxes that I was very distracted. (I secretly enjoy taking them to what they call "tool stores" because they rearrange all the inventory until one of the "associates" shows up to answer all my questions.)
Sunday, it was church and bkfst at the in-laws, after which I was able to sneak away and get on my project, which included another HD/Lowes trip for more lipping and trim material. But I was in such a hurry to maximize my project time that I spaced the laser thingy again. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. LOL

It is accurate to 1/2" 20 ft or some thing like that. Home depot has them.
