Hi All,
I learned, somewhere on the web about an old article on aligning jointer beds. In the shop where I work we have a delta 8” and the beds need some tweekiing to get them true to each other and the knives. It’s not a knife setting problem. Any way, I found aFWW article that gave the details but didn’t buy it at the time, since the boss was talking new 12″. (oh boy!) Well that talk has passed for now .
problem is I can’t find the site, and article and how to purchase it now. Any help would be appreciated. Or should I contact the magazine itself? I think it was in no. 20something.
Thanks

http://www.cambiumbooks.com Go to the machine section. The books are going to be more help than the article and more up to date. You have an older dovetailed ways jointer or a DJ20 with a parallelogram table? You will need a good straight edge at least 48". On the dovetialed ways the preferrred way is to shim the outfeed table. You can buy a pack of shim stock at http://www.mcmaster.com or just buy a $5 feeler gauge and cut it up. The parallelogram is easily adjusted at all 4 points of the table. On all the ones I've adjusted there are double set screws that secure the cams so make sure you fully remove the top setscrew to access the one that loosens the adjustment cam.
Thanks for the reply Rick. Good guess It's a DJ20.

Thanks again Info was a big help.
hey jcrum,
We moved the online archive for Fine Woodworking over to FineWoodworkingNetwork.com. (Knots is part of this new site as well)
Here is a place where you can find all the articles and videos available about jointers, including some on setting jointer knifes and tables:
