Any one out there own and operate a Jet Supersaw? I like some of the features, especially given the fact that I work only on week-ends in a small garage shop. I know this saw will be a vast improvement over my 1953 Shopsmith, but will it serve me well for years or should I isist on a cabinet saw?

I don't have the Jet Super, but's it's a question only you can answer. Yes, it would be an improvement. But, you are still limited to the HP of a smaller contractor saw. You are limited to a compromise of the way the internal components are mounted compared to a cabinet and contractor. Having the motor mounted inside (even though not mounted the same as a cabinet) helps dust collection. The slider is great. I have used sliders for several years and love them.
If you will do smaller projects only where you will never use the extra horse for thicker hardwoods, the Super IMO would be fine. If you do think you will need that horse in the future, I would go cabinet now and choose one that has an avalilable slider I could purchase in the future.
As I stated, only you can answer your own question. Sit down with a cup of coffee and think about it awhile. Do it when your mind is clear. If you do, IMO a clear answer will appear. ha..ha..
Good Luck...

Since Sarge broke the ice by answering even though he doesn't own one <g>, I'm going to plunge in here. There have been a few reviews out on this saw, and some posts, maybe in another forum, from people who've bought it. They are not glowing reviews! Can't remember the details, and am on my way to work, but I'll look around and repost. Seems like it had to do with, perhaps, not so great table action for one thing.
PS: Just saw your 'will it [serve me well(?)] for years' comment vis a vis a cabinet saw. Nope, no matter how good it is, it ain't going to be near as good as a cabinet saw.
