Hello all!
I’m usually over at the ‘dark side’ Over the Fence but I have a question about Jatoba hardwood.
We installed Jatoba about 2 1/2 years ago it is finished with a gloss varathane. I waited about 2 months before laying down any rugs and I often moved the furniture around due to being told about how it darkens. I’ve noticed that one area under a 6′ x 10′ area rug is much lighter than the rest of the floor.
My question is if I remove the rug will the floor eventually darken and if not what in the world can I do to get it match the rest of the floor?
thank in advance!

It will eventually darken, but it took a couple of years for the difference to be so noticeable, and it will likely take a couple of years to make the difference unnoticeable, assuming you can avoid covering up that area to hide it from the light during that period.
thanks for the reply, I can rearrange a few things so that won't be a problem I just hope it will darken. I guess in the end if it doesn't it will be a great conversation piece! :-)Mt. Hope, Ontario Canada zone6
