Is it a Stanley or is it just Memorex!
A question for you Plane folks. Came across a #7 plane, the fellow that has it says it is a “Stanley” well the only thing I see is the blade that is stamped “Stanley” think the blade cap has been replaced and there are no markings on it and the only marking on the base is the #7. The handle and knob seem to be of rosewod. I have doubts about it being a Stanley though.
Thanks KK

I didn't think my Stanley #6 had the Stanley name anywhere other than the blade until I cleaned it up and found the name on the top of the lateral adjustment lever.
No "Bailey" in the top of the base either? That would make me suspect, but I'm not a used plane expert.
Somewhere on the Stanley site you can find the list of planes made in different years and the markings for each of those planes. Sorry I don't have the list, but it should be easy to find.
Hope that helps,Mitch

Try SuperiorTool.com/StanleyBG/StanOA.html for more information on Stanley planes than you probably want.
