I am looking for more information on this unusual dovetail joint, in which some of the pins angle up and some down. I know how the joint goes together, but I’m looking for some more information on it. I understand that this joint was described in a past issue of FWW magazine – does anyone know which one?

I think I saw the article in a FWW way back early '90's (before colour issues?). The article called them sunburst or starburst dovetails if I remember. Might be in one of FWW's current publications on joinery or carcases too. They looked very interesting. Good luck in your quest.
*the nejiri arigata- also known as the twisted dovetail is described by alan peters in the November 1986 issue. a reprint is available in taunton's "Tradidional woodworking techniques." This is a great resource for many aspects of woodworking, and it doesnt cost much more than buying a back issue. good luck- i'm thinking about trying it, but not quite ready yet.
*Why didn't you say so. I don't speak Japanese, which is all Greek to me!!;-) Go to this discussion for some info.> http://webx.taunton.com/WebX?128@@.ee92324I think you are talking about this joint,> http://webx.taunton.com/WebX?233@@.ee92324/0!enclosure=.ee92e61 Sliante.
