Hello All: I am stuck with some very nice looking Lacewood veneer with PSA backing. I now know better but would like to use this stuff with the best chance of success possible. Is there anything I can do to make sure it will stick? I’ve put pre glued vinyl flooring down and was advised to use extra adhesive on the substrate, would some thing like that help here and if so what? This is a re-post of my earlier question, hoping for some additional info.
Thanks, Duke

PSA or pressure sensitive adhesive, requires pressure. The substrate should be clean and flat. Materials like fir plywood are not recommended. I don't think you will need any additional adhesive. I'd cut off a practice piece and J-roller it or press with a veneer hammer. You might be surprised, some of the PSA glues are very strong on a good surface. I would buy the occasional piece of oak or maple at HD but it takes a half day to get those danged stickers off!
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Can you sand it off and use Hide Glue?

Make sure the substrate is clean and dust free. Peel the first 2"-3" from one side of the veneer and line it up with one side of the substrate. Use a J roller to roll/press the veneer while you slowly pull away the adhesive backing. Roll from the center towards the edges, this will help prevent air bubbles from forming. If you do trap any air, use a very sharp X-acto knife to make a slit running along the grain into the air pocket - press it flat with the roller.

Thanks, All: Now I know I can use this material, when I started reading so many negitive comments about PSA veneer I figured I had wasted my money.
