Been away a couple weeks: some vacation, some work, and it’ll be more of the same over the next coupla months.
I want you to know, I’ve really missed the shellac threads: I really have. I think.
We get into fall and, being in the plant business, my schedule will cool down like the weather. In the meantime ……….
I’ve been thinking of eating my carpet. Is it safe to use shellac on it first?

It would be safe, but most of the carpet munchers I know prefer it uncoated.

But how to keep the fibers out from between yer teeth. THAT is the question.
Denny
I understand shaving the carpet first gives good results, might be easier on your microplane if you shave the carpet before applying the shellac.Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys. -- P.J. O'Rourke
blew,
B4 you eat any rug it must be planed, not sanded, with a Marcou set to a very fine cut. Don't ask me how I know this...................

A Woodworkers mind should be the sharpest tool in the shop!
Can't afford a Marcou. Would a microplane be the same?
Denny
Denny,
A Marcou is a macro-plane as it has weight, presence, superior gleam and a manly mien. Perhaps "Maximum Plane" would be more accurate.
Of course, lady woodworkers are also able to handle one, although they may suffer even more excitement during the process than do we chaps, because of the aforementioned manly mien!
Lataxe, currently too sore to pick his up let alone swoosh the bugger.
Shellac will be fine, But my Grandchildren have made our carpet look like a DQ Sundae. Much tastier besides.
Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

If it's hot fudge flavored, I'll be over.

Denny,
Ah... shellac. Just had an unpleasant orange peel session with some Seal Coat last week. It's about time for another good shellac war.
-Jerry
So, you're saying shellac gives it an orange taste?
Denny
You can afford a CARPET? Wow!
Here in England we have a limited number of carpet tiles, which we carry from room to room (some of us have two, or if rich, three rooms) but never remove the plastic face protector. Then we can leave them to our children, who until then have been content with cardboard imitations with a picture of the real thing on their mantalpiece, if they have one.
Earwax is a good substitute for shellac, and if you are starving (and a bit deaf) it will stave off hunger pangs. On toast if you have any bread!
True, earwax with a little sugar. Tastes just like honey. MMMMmmmm.
Denny
Hey, Denny,
Been wondering where you were...
Thinking of eating your carpet??? Why would you do that when asphalt tile is so much tastier? Better for you, too!
Pretzel Mike, I would do asss, er ashh, aesh-fault, but its m' teef, Mike. I aint gots inny teef. I could put'em in, but I dont like the taste of thet construction adhesdhiv.

Denny, you are in the plant business? Thought you were a graphic designer. Well when it cools down here we will be ready to replace all the plants we put in this summer. I think I will put some blonde shellac on them just so the wither and dye right away. I have been busy planting some big a.. trees the past few weeks. They do very well in the heat, love it actually. Takes a semi, with highway patrol to escort them to the job site. We use a 5 yard 30,000 lb loader to move em around on the site. The get the crane next to the hole to set them. The big 72" box trees weight right around 8 tons and have a trunk about 14" in diameter. Big old knarly hobbit type Ironwoods. My fav tree in the world.
