Peter: I acquired an antique wardrobe from a neighbor. The crown molding on one side was taken off when I received it. It looked like it was glued on using hyde glue, a dark brown residue left on the molding and wardrobe. What is the best way to remove the glue so I can replace the crown molding? Thanks for the help.

You can lightly scrape it off. If you do this be sure you don't remove wood at the same time. A sharp razor or utility knife blade will work well.
If it is really thick, you can warm it up a bit with some very hot water and lightly scrape it off. Just be careful with the surrounding wood when it is wet as it will come off too.
Another way is to wet it with denatured alcohol and it will chip off.
Good luck.
Peter
