I have read that all new model table saws must now be equipped with riving knives. I’m in the market for a hybrid saw and can only find one currently on the market that has this feature. Can you tell me when I can expect more models to become available? Any scuttlebutt on which companies are planning to introduce new models and when? I’m inclined to wait and put up with my cheap old contractor saw for now, but I’d like an idea about how long the wait might be.

The table saw manufacturers have apparently reached an agreement with some agency to phase out U.S. style splitters in favor of true riving knives. The agreement was reached a year or two ago and there is a deadline that I think is still a year or two away, but many manufacturers have started to bring out the newer style saws.
There are several cabinet saws already out, not too many contractor's saws, and probably several more hybrids are on the way. Many, but not all, of the bench top machines have had riving knives for years but they are almost always designed to look like U.S. style guards but the mount is there to accommodate a crescent style shop made riving knife.
