Here goes. I have the Dewalt hybrid saw for about 6 years. No complaints but some day a cabinet saw. The 2.5″ dust hose connection at he back is connected to a 4″ flexible which goes to a 1.5HP collector about 1.5′ away. The bottom of the saw is open and a lot of dust collects in the “hump” where the motor goes when making other than a 90° cut on the right and of course on the floor but most is picked up by the dust collector.
My thought/question. Can I enclose the buttom of the saw to the floor and poke a hole in the plastic “hump” and use a 4″ hose to collect the dust?

I had the same saw! And yes, you can enclose the back and bottom. From there, just add a 4" port out of the bottom of the saw. I'm not sure what you mean by plastic "hump"?
This thing collects a lot of sawdust and I thought if I connected a hose to the bottom it might collect more.
Who knows. I'll try it and see.

Ah, I got ya!
I would actually close off the entire bottom and back of the saw. Then add a 4" port to the bottom. You can use 1/4" plywood, 1/8" hardboard or just some cardboard. It doesn't need to be fancy. Just enough to contain the sawdust. Gravity and your DC will do the rest.
Thanks, I going to try it and see what happens.
Cardboard and duct tape to see if it works and then I'll upgrade to something more permanent.
I look forward to not having to vacuum at the end of every day I'm working with the saw.

I hear ya, that was my complaint about the saw. Some sort of foam board would work too.
