I’m in the market for a HVLP sprayer. My first project will be painting a set of kitchen cabinets that I have made. My problem is that I don’t know what unit features are necessary or just nice. Looking to the future, I suspect I will be using this sprayer for other cabinet and furniture project that I take on periodically.
Can some one with HVLP experience give me some suggestions on what to buy?
Thanks,
Bob

Bob, there is an excellent article on HVLP sprayers in the current issue of American Woodworker. Goes off the stand on July 1st, so if you want it you'll have to hurry. The article explains the different features and progressively better guns, and how those features come into play for different finishes.

I would suggest a conversion gun with a pressure feed. That will allow you to spray heavy and light bodied material with only a needle change.
It also is easier to use as the gun will spray at any attitude, and the pressure feed reduces the demand on your compressor.
I have an Asturo 9010 HVLP/SP with a 2 qt pressure pot, and 5' hoses.
I spray anything from WB lacquer to heavy acrylics (thinned).
Any gun you purchase should have a large selection on needles and tips, fan control, fluid control, and two regulators, one for the pot, and one for the gun.
Try http://www.homesteadfinishing.com and look at their products, and ask questions on their forum.
